Soccer practice with the little bittles. Scarlet is now listening as good or bad as any of the kids (it is not apparent that she is the coach's kid--she is any ol' 5 year old who sometimes listens and sometimes hugs the girl next to her and tells secrets that have nothing to do with soccer...).
We had our first scrimmage and it made me genuinely smile and chuckle. These kids were running around like freaks and nailing the ball anywhere they could. There was only knee jerk reactions (pun intended), no premeditated thought at all. Scarl was hilariously (to me at least) aggressive (I just spelled that word remembering an 8th grade football cheer...be aggressive!) She would charge anyone and trounce on them just to get to the ball. It was astounding. The whole mini-game was serious fun to watch. I may have never seen so much competition in my life. These kids wanted to win. They didn't know where the boundaries were, they weren't quite sure which goal was theirs or really who was on their team, but by golly, they could taste the sweet, sweet win like only crazed lunatics can.
Worst Part of the Day-
Only the rushing around I must do on Mondays. I must rush from my class at 5pm to soccer at 5:30 back to doctor rounds at 7pm. There is a bit of rushing and apologizing for lateness, but not a ton of eating....
Truest Comment of the Day-
When getting ready for school this morn Scarlet wanted to wear her new fuzzy gloves (it's not that cold, it is simply part of the outfit) and I was reluctant as they do not have her name labeled as they are new and I haven't had a chance to do so yet AND the school requires all items labeled. Scarlet's response, "Don't worry, Mom, the teacher will know they are mine because they are pink, fuzzy and have jewels."
True dat, Little Diva.
