Scarl's school Open House was this eve. It was very cool to see and be seen. She wore a highly fancy dress while justifying, "Well it's a big night!" We spotted our family hat project in the gallery (yes, it is the tiniest--all part of my plan...), and had a chance to say hi to all of her teachers (dance, music, art, drama, gym, computer and regular ol teacher--whew). The drama space made me want to sing out Tomorrow! from Annie (so I belted out a few bars). The dance studio is complete with shiny basketball court-like floor, ballet bars, mirrors, etc. Liam was kind of geeked out in there...it does make one want to bust out some moves.
I could tell S. is feeling more comfortable with the school and the lay of the land. Good to see.
Worst Part of the Day-
I could not find my work keys anywhere! I asked Liam if he knew (I stupidly often let him play with the keys--it makes no sense, he just loves keys...). He said "pee pee." I said "not pee pee--key". He repeated "pee pee". As I was brushing my teeth and getting fancy for the Open House I saw the missing keys (key card and all) safely at he bottom of the toilet. Dude. Key key in the pee pee is very yickeeey.
Most Inappropriate (rambling) Comment of the Day-
There were some snacks at the Open House and Scarlet being her helpful self ran up to a woman (probably an older looking 48 year-old) and said the following: "You look like a nice old lady who likes to eat...here's a snack for you, Old Lady. Do you have teeth? Some old ladies don't have teeth and some do, so if you don't then we can smash it up and if you do--oh yes, I see your teeth now...they are a little brown like my Grandpa Bill's...he's old like you and he never brushes or eats fruits or vegetables. Maybe you should not eat this cookie and I should get you some fruit salad. I'll be right back with some fruit salad, Old Lady!"

No wonder MPS is going broke -"all of her teachers (dance, music, art, drama, gym, computer and regular ol teacher--whew)." All this for a 4 year old kindergartner?
I live in arguably the finest school district in America, all my half day 5 year old kindergartner has is one teacher and a bus driver.
I live in one of the finest school districts in america as well (although we are not in the mps district), and my 2nd grader has a gym, art, science, spanish and regular ol teacher..and we are a public school as well...go tax payer dollars! the more teachers/influences my child has, the more well rounded he will be...go mps for schoolin' our scarls!
What? Do I live in the only district in America that I have to pay extra for Spanish and Art?
But you all have to pay for piano lessons? Right?
My property taxes are only 0.87% of home value.
You gotta love life in a Northern suburb
