Scarlet had a fantastic day at school. Day #1 of full day sans parents. She didn't bat an eyelash when I dropped her off and when I picked her up she was chatting and laughing with a classmate. I asked her to introduce me to her new buddy and she said, "This is Erin--my new best friend. I'll never leave her!" They hugged for minutes and I had to pry them apart. I see the art school bit is already rubbing off in the drama department. Very pleased it was an easy, breezy day. Like we've been doing this kindergarten thang for years! (Still no tears for me...I know that freshman/college drop-off will kill me though. Perhaps those tears will be more due to the realization of "OMG, I'm freaking 50! Society will not approve of me ever doing beer bongs again! I will never go on a Spring Break to South Padre Island...")
Worst Part of the Day-
I went without my phone for much of the day due to misplacement and busy-ness issues. (Also it doesn't help that the entire contents of the dining room is stacked in the kitchen...can't find anything...) I missed a few calls from my mom asking a medical question. After many hours lapsed, she ended up going to the ER and was diagnosed with a kidney stone. Eeek. She did tell me last night she felt a pain in her hip/butt area (that is NOT a text book symptom of kidney stones) and I flippantly told her to take ibuprofen and Aleve and hit the sack... I feel bad that I: A). Have chronic phone placement issues B). My mom was in serious pain and I couldn't help (and ER is my bag!) The IV dilaudid helped her, though. That I know.
