Best Part of the Day-
Will-O took the kids on a 2.5 day visit to see his dad (who is in his 80's and is somewhat ailing). This is all part of Phase 1 Lesson:  How to do things independently (without spouse doing all initiating, planning and coordinating.)  Though I did book the hotel online, print directions, get the car an oil change, and pack Liam's bag, the trip itself is a good start for Will-O.  Even broaching the subject of taking both kidlets on a road trip alone was a HUGE step for him.  So today it came to fruition.  The traveling party of 3 was happy and energetic and excited about the 4-hour car journey to the hotel, restaurants and ultimately a nice visit with Grandpa Bill.

And I was happy and energetic and excited about some serious downtime.  I worked from 6am-9am and then proceeded to I have the most delicious day of napping, mild home cleaning, ('cause no one will be able to mess it up!) and even went as far as eating fatty fun foods like chips with dip and having a few beers while watching network t.v.  Have not had this much "me" time in eons. Who knew beer and french onion dip could be oh so healing?

Worst Part of the Day-
Really?  Is July 2008 coming to a close?

Funniest Scarlet Quip of the Day-
Of course Scarlet has packed her own bags for years and today was no exception.  So as she packs, I try to discreetly supervise as no one likes a micro-manager.  At one point I saw her trying to shove a full-length gown (like something she may wear as a flower girl in a wedding) into her travel bag.  I questioned it as I thought it may be a bit much for a casual summer jaunt to northern Wisconsin.  Scarlet's reply:  "I haven't seen Grandpa Bill for awhile and I just want him to see what a mature young lady I am now."  She won, the gown got to go.   She will be the best dressed patron in the restaurant attached to the Holiday Inn.
