I took the kiddos (solo) to the beach just down the street from my parent's home. It was delightful and I felt for the first time summer is certainly here. (Yes, I know it is half over...I just haven't yet been experiencing much summertime fun...)
We were the only ones at the beach today (there were some high winds!). The kids literally frolicked in the waves (seriously, it was windy), built and then crushed a sandcastle--all in all a ton of smiling was going on at this beach. (I must say Liam is a natural water-lover and wants to just dive in the water--eeek.)
At one point the kids sat shoulder to shoulder on the beach and looked out at the water contentedly for minutes and minutes. As if they knew they should stare at the natural beauty and share the moment together. Little loves.
Worst Part of the Day-
I am not sure if I know the difference between a hornet and a wasp, but I do know Scarlet was stung twice by one of them on our way home from the park. She screamed her head off (so I knew it hurt like the dickens) and she even bled a bit from each area of attack. We ran right into the house and I made a little paste out baking soda and water (I know this is a bee sting home remedy and really didn't know what else to do...) and globbed it on the affected areas and it took the sting away immediately. Whew. I felt so bad for my little dear.
