I pulled a great April Fool's on my parents....I have been known for the occasional April Fool's prank so I knew I had to make it a good'un. I called my parents home in the middle of the day knowing they would be out. They still have the old school answering machine so I knew it would work. I sounded upset. I went on to say how I got sent home from my new nursing job as I made a grave medication error. I even said "I think I almost killed a patient..." I requested my dad to call me ASAP as I needed his legal services. Just as I was about to say "oh yeah and one more thing...April Fool's!!" my dad picked up the phone. Apparently he had just walked in and heard the entire message and he was really worried (AKA fooled good). Well in the next breath I gave away the prank and needless to say he was relieved and VERY fooled. (I did nail the performance, if I dare say...) Fun times with pranks.
Worst Part of the Day-
My mom's version of the above prank:
My mom works at a school so gets home at roughly 4pm. She of course listened to the answering machine upon arriving home as usual and heard my somber message. Unfortunately she didn't have the pleasure of hearing the "oh yeah and another thing--April Fool's!" part as when my dad picked up the phone it stopping the recording. She called me about 5 times and offered to come over and talk, etc. She was REALLY worried. She sat on the fact that her daughter may have killed a patient until 6:30pm when my dad got home and broke the news of the prank. I felt bad as I was at work in this time period and clearly was not able to pick up messages. So basically I really freaked her out for 2 + hours. When she heard of the April foolin she called back and said "that was a mean one." Ooopsies.
All in the name of good clean fun.
