In a 3 hour time slot between my current 2 jobs, I met the fam at mother-in-law's for an early din (roughly 4 pm). The kids have a blast there playing with Grandma's cool toys and exploring the different digs. At one point Scarlet asked if she could use her binoculars (why do older folks always have binoculars sitting out in the living room?) and she went outside to seek adventure in the woodsy back yard. It was sweet to look out at her using the binoculars--she looked like she had been using them for years to track the mating rituals of the robin or some such thing. When she came back inside she proclaimed "I am obsessed with these!" Perhaps she will be tracking some creature sooner than I ever thought.
M-I-L's home is only minutes from the hospital so it truly was relaxing--yummy Thai food and a great reprieve from the work thang.
Worst Part of the Day-
It's broken record time. Mondays are my late late. Tonight we had rounds with our Psychiatrist and I was so sleepy I was feeling giddy. Giddy is perhaps fine in most work environments but here it was bordering on inappropriate. I was basically slap happy. It is not quite therapeutic to burst out laughing when an emotionally disturbed teen is telling how they know they have magic powers and can do anything. The doctor was asking this magic powers resident to clarify what she meant. She said something like "I know I can do anything..I don't need school or parents...I need to go smoke me some blunts and I will be a pediatric. I will be a pediatric!" When the doc asked what she meant by 'pediatric', she said "you know a doctor for kids--a pediatric." I did have to leave the room. Couldn't hold back... (Bad, sleepy nurse.)
