Best Part of the Day-
Sitting in local coffee shop with Scarl downing the scrumptious caffeine that sustains my being. (She only had an a apple juice). A date--just the girls, as she says.
Good golly I broke down and purchased a new cell phone...despite the fact that it is probably sitting in my hometown's airport 'lost and found'...I am just sick of being out of touch and I don't have time to go searching.
Worst Part of the Day-
I had a very non-therapeutic moment with one o' the "troubled" girls with whom I work. I simply wasn't connecting and I really wasn't in the mood to be super duper empathetic (caring). She was VERY blah and negative and obviously quite depressed (wait, maybe this is just standard teenager behavior). Every question I asked was met with "nothing" "no one" "no". What do you want to be when you grow up? Nothing. What do you like to do with your friends? Nothing. Did you do anything over the weekend that was enjoyable? No.
My old man persona wanted to say, "Look here kid--you got it good, o.k.? You're young, you're healthy, you're American--now quit complaining and get to work!" Perhaps all she needed was a hug--I couldn't be all warm and fuzzy today.
(I honestly don't think I'll have a problem with that tough love thing if my chitlins need that kind of madness when they turn into sullen teens.) See ya teenager, I'll be over here resting.
