Monday September 27, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Wes does not have school on Mondays - hopefully they are going to offer it soon, but for now he's all mine.  So we went to the gym and then to grocery shop and it was downright pleasant and easy.  He was just a treat to be around.  Whoa.

Worst Part of the Day - Erik had to leave in the pouring rain today.  Double boo.

Sunday September 26, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Rainy, lazy day.  Out to dinner this fine rainy evening with three friends to the amazing Lulu's - soooo good!  And so much fun to leisurely hang out with pals in the evening.  We had a really nice long chat.

Worst Part of the Day - Hated leaving Erik with the kiddos again (with them all day yesterday), but he seems to be trying for Father of the Year.  Or maybe they really are getting easier ....

Mini Misogynist - Lately Wes has been saying "I don't like girls (gurls).  I would rather play with 100 boys than gurls."  When I say to him "what about Bella?"  He will say "Okay, I like Bella and I like you and I like the mamas.  But I don't like gurls."  Okay.  So at dinner one of my friends was saying that last year two of the girls who are now in Wes' class were total segregationists - wanting all the boys at one table and girls at the other.   Ah ha.  So Wes is just reacting to the gurls saying "we don't want boys at our table." Well now I know - but man, does that crap start young.

Saturday September 25, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Completed the MudRun today - 4.2 miles of trail running with 32 obstacles.

Worst Part of the Day - Hated getting back in the car today - ready to only drive in short spurts for quite some time.  Also hated sucking wind during the trail running.  And the lines for the showers after the run were soooo very long.  Then straight to a meeting at the gym and then home by 4:15 p.m.  Long day, beat up, tired.

Friday September 24, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Went to a fall festival at a park with a bunch of pals.  It twas hot, but very fun for the babes to bounce in the bounce houses and ride the itty bitty rides.  Hilarious.

Worst Part of the Day - Q had his five year well visit and there seems to be something wrong with his left eye.  During the vision test he just couldn't see out of that eye when covering the right eye.  So off to the pediatric opthamologist we go.

Thursday September 23, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Hit yoga class and damn it felt good.  Also successful trip to the vet with both boys.  They loved seeing the cats and listening to Clarence's heart.  It took under 20 minutes - nice.

Worst Part of the Day - Dropped car at Wal-Mart for an oil change and then walked to the gym which is so super convenient.  Got got to Wal-Mart and saw my car in the parking lot - hooray it's all done.  I can just pay and go.  Turns out that the entire store's uplink is down and they cannot take credit cards.  So I say well I have to get my car and this employee says to me "well you are not going to be able to get it."  I turn and put my finger in her face (yes, I did) and said "OH I WILL be getting my car."  There was silence and then the assistant manager showed up and took me to the front of the store where they spent 10 minutes looking for the old school imprint machine.  They never did find it and eventually just ran my card through to imprint it electronically.  On my way out, the woman I'd been bitchy too very nicely said "Did you get it all figured out?"  Yes, I figured out that it's hard for me to keep my cool when someone says I won't be getting my car.

Wednesday September 22, 2010

You Say it's Your Birthday?  It's MY Birthday too!

Best Part of the Day - It's my super special day!  Friends took me out to lunch which was so super fun.  Then later, friends surprised me by stopping by with their kids and some cake for some Happy Birthday singing.  Wes was confused as to why there was no pinata (Peen-ahh-ta) as that is a requisite for b-days as of late.  Got to speak (at length) with KEG which was so very nice!!  Been too long (and really, all my fault for that).

Worst Part of the Day - Too much cake was brought over by my amigas.  Had to pitch a good lot of it - better out than in (me) I say.

Tuesday September 21, 2010

Worst Part of the Day - Doing Seaworld today was simply brutal.  The kiddos were tired and whiny and Erik and I were tried and whiny.  I think that for my kiddos, they were just not old enough for that park and the day before was just too long.  Left Seaworld at 2 p.m. and drove to Jacksonville.  Picked up the dog, kissed Erik goodbye and headed north to Charlotte.  Made it home by 11:30 p.m.  I'm so tired, I can't sleep ... running through my head.

Best Part of the Day - Making it home!  Dealing with Redbox regarding a scratched DVD that would not play (and truly we did not scratch it, it came that way).  FAB customer service!!  Kudos.  AND there were some good points at Seaworld - the roller coaster, the penguins and the sea lions.  But mostly brutal.

Monday September 20, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Successful Disney day - eleven straight hours at the Magic Kingdom.   High points were:
- Wes riding Space Mountain (roller coaster in the dark) twice after JUST making that height requirement.  You need to be 44 inches tall to ride it and he must be 43 3/4.  Quinn did ride it once and then calmly said "I don't want to do that again."   But Quinn did thoroughly enjoy the other roller coasters which I thought was cool and unexpected.
- Rocket Ride at the end of the day.  The sun was setting and you could see the castle and part of the light parade - really rather beautiful.

Worst Part of the Day - I could not seem to get hydrated.  Every time I would buy a $2.50 bottle of water it would be gulped up by the males.  Hot, sweaty and on high alert for 11 hours (where's my wallet?  where's my camera?  where are the kids?) is exhausting.  Also, limited vegetarian options left me feeling shaky by the end of the day.  Luckily I had some salmon back at the hotel and immediatly felt better.

Absolute Worst - Lost Wes for a heart wrenching, gut twisting 18 minutes.  He was there and then he was gone.  Poof.  We lost sight of him for maybe 30 seconds and could ... not ... find .... him.  The vendor who helped me at the start of this was CLEARLY not schooled in damage control.  She asked "how old is he?" And I said "Three and a half" and she gasped.  Then five minutes later she asked "how long has he been missing?"  And I said "about 10 minutes now" and she gasped and put her hand over her mouth.  UM - YOU ARE NOT HELPING.  Then Erik came back with him in his arms and I started to cry and Wes clutched Mickey Mouse sitckers.  Then about 20 minutes later I was about to kill him again.  The next day Wes reported "if I walk away and get lost, I get stickers!"  And I turned on him and said "NO, YOU WILL GET A SPANKING!"

Sunday September 19, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Up and on the road by 10 a.m. Trip to Orlando was traffic free. Made it to the hotel and headed straight to the pool. Much swimming for everyone on this hot, hot day. Late lunch by the pool then to hotel room to get ready for dinner. Took shuttle to Downtown Disney and had dinner at Rainforest Cafe (which kind of freaked Wes out. He really thought those hanging monkeys were going to get him.

Worst Part of the Day - We waited a bit too long to feed the boyz dinner and almost lost them to melt down city. We are traveling with friends of ours who have an almost 3 year old girl who is obedient and sweet and would not be called "energetic" (as you would euphemistically call my boys). It truly seems like her parenting situation is fairly calm. Not to mention they had two to one ratio. Calm is NOT a word I would use to describe my parenting situation. It's funny to see the differences.

Saturday September 18, 2010

Best Part of the Day - I simply could not lift my head this morning when the boyz awoke. Erik took them out to breakfast and to the playground and I just slept and slept and slept. At 11 a.m. we went on a boat ride with friends to the Jacksonville Zoo. The zoo has a splash park, carousel, train ride and a giraffe feeding area - all big hits with the preschool set. Then dinner with friends (sushi feast!) and chit chatting.

Worst Part of the Day - Erik is not feeling well and is pretty tired as well. Not good when you are about to embark on a Disney whirlwind trip.

Friday September 17, 2010

Worst Part of the Day - The constant packing, cleaning and running around prior to the car trek to Jacksonville wears me out before I even start. Also feels like a crazy Groundhog Day mess - didn't I just do this??
Also was cruising along with both boyz watching a Redbox movie of his choice when I hit some construction about one hour north of Jacksonville. ONE HOUR AND 40 MINUTES LATER we were through the 'construction' which to my eyes looked like they were just sitting around and watching us merge to one lane. THEN I was 10 minutes to Alex's house when Erik called and his flight was in ... so I turned my bus around and went to go get him. I'm a little tired. Started the trip at 1:08 p.m. and got to Alex's at 9:45 p.m.

Best Part of the Day - Laying my head down that evening with one Miller High Life in me - divine.

Monday September 20, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Atypically got sent home from hospital job at noon! Dutifully went to job #1 and cranked it out, so was home waay early for a Monday. Will-O took kiddies to his mom's for the night.
Did what I would do every night if I didn't have little ones to raise: Went for a run, made divine meal for one and had necessary alone time. Ahhhhh.

Worst Part of the Day-
I completed Family Art Project (was due 9/17...) on my own in the wee hours this morn. (This comes with sending your child to an art-centric school, I guess.) The project guideline is Family Tree. Ours ws made from all recycled pieces from the home. It ended being a stark/simple, mosaic of cork (sustainable) tree with barren branches bearing our names. It does look cool, but Scarlet said, "looks like a haunted tree." Maybe so. But it's done.

Sunday September 19, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Schlepped kiddies to G-ma Sal's so I could jet to work (job #1) for unexpected need. The kid had a BLAST and I gained kudos (as opposed to boos from co-works.) Exhale.

Also, kids were phenomenal at bedtime. Scarlet apologized for her behaviors, "I love you so much, Mom...I don't mean to act that way..."
Liam said numerous times today, "I love (cousin) Wyatt soo much. I just do."

Worst Part of the Day-
The kids (both?) were sooooo sassy panted this morn. I couldn't even take them the gym KidCare (they were that naughty!)
Liam had his 4th (total in life) tantrum while at grocery store this morn.

Note: Scarlet had 4 tantrums weekly at age 3.5 yrs.

Saturday September 18, 2010

Best Parts of the Day-
Took kiddies to gym in AM
Scar had friend over in PM (we had a campire and roasted mallows...)
Met Terry and Wyatt at parental home in eve for yummy meal and enjoyment.

Worst Part of the Day-
Driving home from parental home in late-ish night (still allergic to parental home.) Wanted desperately to teleport myself and kiddies directly to our respective beds.

Friday September 17, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Skipped outta Book Club and met Cuz K. for wine and chat and a clothing purge. She unloaded her belongings on to me as part of her grieving. Laughs were had...

Worst Part of the Day-
Communicacion breakdown betwixt sitter and me--I thought she was going to be dropped off and she thought I was picking up...this led to me having one solid hour of "me time" taken away. Doh.

Thursday September 16, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Alright, so Will-O is pretty much outta the picture Thursdays through Sundays for his band dealie September through Nov. It is easier to have him pick up/drop off kids, get meals set and the like, but I do love my anti-social solo evenings...
Do I need these to decompress or am I a titch weird??

Worst Part of the Day-
The end of day rush scooping Liam up from sitter and then Scar up from post-school Camp Elm. We are home at 6ish and I am a tad done...still need to get din on the table, etc. Boo.

Wednesday September 15, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Was on call and did not hear a peep from the pager!
Took kiddies to Cuz Cale's b-day party and fun was had. I may have been the last wine-swillin guest..

Worst Part of the Day-
It was tricky to get out of the crazy hospital. At least 1 hour late for b-day fun.

Monday, September 20, 2010

Tuesday September 14, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
It was pleasant to have Will-O home and helping with the kids. Good golly, it is soooo challenging when it's solely little ol moi... Dinner ready and kids happy=naw-ice.

Worst Part of the Day-
I did the office portion of my hospital job today as I hadn't in some time. Ewwwww. That office is bizz-zay! No rest for this paper pusher nurse. (And the docs have NO CLUE how to run it...I do declare their cash cow practice would crumble without the dutiful RN's.) Word.

Monday September 13, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
A fine easy day of job #1 and fair doc rounds in eve. Ho hum.

Worst Part of the Day-
Had a meeting with the realtor this morn and had (just had to!) tell her that I was not feeling the whole home-on-the-market (and keeping it in showcase form) thing. I told her I could NOT do it right now. She was super cool and understanding and told me not to add extra stress if I didn't have to. Whew. Excellente life tip for the rest of my days. I feel refreshed not having to do this now...but really when am I gonna do this??

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Thursday September 16, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Went over to friend C's house after preschool with the boys. She has a trampoline, three cats and tons of 'girl' toys. Blast all the way around.

Worst Part of the Day - Full of stupid errands getting ready for our upcoming trip to Jacksonville and then Disney/Sea World (egad - do I really have to drive the boyz six hours tomorrow? Booo.) Don't worry friends, we are only going to visit the actual Magic Kingdom for one day and Sea World for one day. I think that's the most we can handle. Also Wes up at 5:30 a.m. this morning, so Mama be tried.

Also, dear Molly, Life Lesson #2: Don't wear shoes you know are going to give you blisters just prior to a trip to Orlando where you will be walking for nine straight hours.

Wednesday September 15, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Gymming and then hanging out with my pals. Also had a little buddy of Wes' over and they played so nicely together for two plus hours. Awesome.

Worst Part of the Day - Why so much drama with Wes and brushing his teeth? He's knows it's gonna happen - why fight it? Dear Wes, here is life lesson #17: Don't pick battles you are sure to lose. We had to brush his teeth twice this evening as he snuck a Danimal and then told me about it. Dear Wes, here is life lesson #18: Don't tell mama you just drank a yogurt drink if you don't wish to brush your teeth again.

Tuesday September 14, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Erik and I had bought a grill from Home Depot the Friday before Labor Day and brought it home to find it was really dented (as in Erik had to bend it back to make the parts fit). Dear ole Home Depot gave us much money back for our troubles. Nice.

Had C and her two littles over after preschool. It is always a good time to send the preschoolers down to the basement and chit chat in the kid free, toy free zone that is the upstairs.

Worst Part of the Day - We're having cool mornings and evenings - but damn girl, it's still hot during the day. Also popped in a TJ Maxx and realized (again) why I don't shop there. Who wants to wait in line for 15 minutes to buy these items I don't even need?

Monday, September 13, 2010

Monday September 13, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Met up with Erik and Wes for lunch. Wes does not have school on Mondays, so Erik took him to run some errands. We went to a Asian/Thai place and Wes had half of Erik's egg roll, half of my spring roll, sweet and sour chicken, spicy thai basil chicken, steamed vegetables and rice with brown sauce. At one point he looked up from his plate and said "no one is having as good a lunch as us, right?" Quite possibly.

Worst Part of the Day - I'm about to put up my no drama sign (the word DRAMA with a red circle around it and line through the circle). The boyz are soooo dramatic. Every little thing that goes wrong is just so terribly, TERRIBLY horrible. Earsplitting screams, crying loudly, wailing, my god, the wailing!! It can wear one out. Not to mention that last week I left them alone for 10 minutes while I checked the computer and I came back to find eight mini cupcakes eaten and my sunglasses broken. It's like living in the zoo. Where's my tranquilizer gun?

Sunday September 12, 2010

Best Part of the Day - We got our new (to us) boat out on the water today. It's swwweettt. Chris and Ann had to get off early (say 3ish), but our little family stayed on that dern thing until 6:15 p.m. We got Q to go fast on the tube (prior to today he liked a slow ride), but now I think he's addicted to speed like the rest of us. I must have tubed for close to 2 hours. My fingertips were numb by the end (odd).

Worst Part of the Day - After b-day party last night and then boating all day, the parentals in this unit were tired and all done with it all. Sorry kiddos, no shenanigans anoche. Not in the mood. It's fun to boat, but lots o' work with the young ones. Still, I can see it getting easier, i.e. thinking of last year.

Saturday September 11, 2010

:( for today - I remember this day so well.

Worst Part of the Day - Party prep blows. Also Quinn opening presents at the end of the night was greedy and chaotic (no thanks to brother Wes and others). Boo to the hiss.

Best Part of the Day - So fun to have Quinn's (and my) pals over for some good ole fashioned no structure b-day party fun. Martha Stewart would have been appalled. It was kiddos in the basement and then in the yard kicking soccer balls (it was a loose soccer theme). Then a soccer ball pinata for one straight hour of fun, fun, fun. Man, kids love them some pinata. Then cake and singing. And all the while adults were encouraged to imbibe in some beers. My kind of party which is, well, why it was a party thrown by moi.

Friday September 10, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Got to finish Dexter with Erik. Overall the season was not as good as previous season (in my opinion) and I can NEVER look at John Lithgow the same ever again. If I saw him walking down the street, I'd turn and run. Still the series is above and beyond most I've seen - so even a subpar season is well worth the watch.

Worst Part of the Day - I've been feeling really tired and really off for awhile now. Could be I need more protein or that I get woken up once per night by Wes. So more greek yogurt and less Wes.

Thursday September 9, 2010

Worst Part of the Day - Preschool closed for a teacher work day. UM did we not JUST start. Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Best Part of the Day - Met my pal J and her kiddos at the playground. She gave Q his b-day present as they will be away this weekend and can't come to the party. We got home and opened up the Hot Wheels track set ... the boys played with this set (and another Hot Wheels track set I had oddly given them this morning) for five plus hours with very little infighting. A-MAZ-ING.

Wednesday September 8, 2010

Awww Quinnie is FIVE today. Happy Birthday Q.

Best Part of the Day -
Brought cupcakes into Q's class for his b-day. His classmates were adorably interested in me and not just because I brought the sugar. Moms are like superstars to the five year old set so I basked in the glow and laughed to myself that in a couple years Q will rather DIE than me bring in cupcakes. I sat in on the end of class and the teacher asked "now if one mouse is mouse, what do you call more than one?" And one enterprising young lad said "double mouse!" I loved it - I could not stop laughing.

Worst Part of the Day - Now Wes only wants to be in Pre-K (aka the 4's). He does not wish to go back to his own classroom.

Q - The preschool the babes are at does the class naming by numbers - so Wes is in the 3's and Quinn is in the 4's. This is a big deal and is talked about quite a bit. So today Quinn asks "Now old is Gigi?"
"Ummm, she is 68", I tell him.
"OH then she is in the 68's!" he exclaims.
"I think it stops before that," I tell him.

Tuesday September 7, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Preschool begins! Hooray!!

Worst Part of the Day - Man that preschool day is short. Ran many, many errands like a chicken with my head cut off. Boooo.

Sunday September 12, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Delivered kiddies into the care of Babs/Ter so they could take them to their church festival. Much needed break for this mama. The kids had a blast! Scarlet assisted G-pa T. in running a booth, apparently and Little Man L. came home with oodles of carnival-style toys n trinkets.

Got to hang a titch with Cuz K.--I know she's majorly hurtin--she therapeutically rearranged my entire downstairs living spaced quite like a pro home stager. I was attempting to help her, yet she just saved me arse (my realtor homework!) Luv ya, K.

Worst Part of the Day-

Challenging to get the littles down for their slumber (esp. Miss S.) after this longish day o' fun.

Saturday September 11, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Utlized my new-ish sitter during the day so I could swing by job #1, grocery shop and acquire some fall foliage. This equals loads o' fun to an ol dork like me.

Worst Part of the Day-
Anytime Will-O is gone (touring, galavanting) and away from the kids for 10 days, I start to get short and snappy (with specifically Miss S.--who asks questions from dawn til dusk and simply does not cease talking...) I feel so bad to to feel this way...I need a partner to take the reigns.

Friday September 10, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Ahhh, back to the hospital scene. I do declare I was missed by my jovial staff mems. It is a fun ol time as much as I would like to be doing other home organizing things...

Worst Parts of the Day-
1. Getting 2 kids to 2 different places by 7:10am so I can jst to hosp and punch in like a factory worker by 7:30am majoryly BLOWS.

2. Met with realtor lady again and I am getting major cold feet about this whole dealie. I don't really need, need, need, need to move--I just kinda wanted to. Not sure what I may do...more stress, seriously????

Thursday September 9, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
My nutty job schedule allowed lil ol me to pick Scarlet up from her lil ol bus stop. My big kid!

Worst Part of the Day-
I'm not reading my book club book or any book...just a lot of FNL when I should be snoozin.

Wednesday September 8, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Another wonderfully enjoyable day of onlyt going to 1 job!! How much of a serious dork am I??? I don't know, but golly gee wiz it's just plain fun to do that!
Made an ab fab organic vegetable soup for din. The kids about went insane with naturally healthy glee!! (Dork.)

Worst Part of the Day-
The kids were putting up a darn good fight in the battle to not go to bed on time...draining. Just do as told, youngens...

A big B-Day shout out to serious big man Quinn!!! How can you be 5 years-old??? Whoop, whoop!

Tuesday September 7, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Taking some much needed days off from hosp job, so I can...not sleep, or rest or lounge...but go to job #1. This is a gigantic relief as it allows me to get kiddies out the AM door as I please...as I can get to job #1 when I please...ahhhhhh.

Worst Part of the Day-
Scarlet went to post-school and in-school, Camp Elm, today after school. She laaaa-hoves it, but it is a slight bee-yatch to drive downtown and back in the heart of rush hour fun.

Making the Best of the Worst Part-
Schleped my sassy beasts to Real Chili on MU campus for 3 vegatarian servings (am I the only one who ever gets this??) The kids were pleased as punch to sit on the greasy red stools and I was pumped to shovel the carb-laden fun into my starving self. Scarlet declared, "I just ate an man's portion!" (A drunken, hungry man's portion, me darlin.)

Monday September 6, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Happy Labor Day. Wow. Met with Cuz K. and the lasses for Palomino brunch ad bloodys...wow, that was necessary. We laughed, we cried...
(Thank you, Jen for the b.sitter hook-up!)

Worst Part of the Day-
Kids were kinda tried and sassy after their big, long weekend. A bit a snippy lippies going on just prior to sleepytime.

Sunday September 5, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Coming together with the cousins, aunts, uncles (and courageous in-laws as it really is a bit to take in--the Cahills...) There were laughs and cries and serious comfort in numbers. I love you, family!
I felt honored to be able to speak at the ceremony...I loved hearing the funny stories of all of the cousins and family/friends.
Also--la-hooved how the younger generation set (undet 10) played in the basement for hours whilst the adults (my peeps) guzzled wine upstairs during the wake. My kids thought it was the best party eva and they stayed up to 11:30pm. Uncle Joey would have approved!

Worst Part of the Day-
Joey's Celebration of Life was today. A celebration it was. Perhaps the most enjoyable funeral of a young person that I have ever been a witness to. But oh my---the pain and heartache of loss is not an easy or quick one to skip over. Soooo many people touched by his life and feel his loss.

Thursday, September 9, 2010

Saturday September 4, 2010

Best Parts of the Day-
1. Babs came to play with kiddies so I could get hair gussied up
2. New sitter trial in later day allowed me to swing by to attempt to bring meal to grieving family...instead I brought tons of candy (and some sedatives) and got to hug and see the crowd...lotsa great Joey pictures on numerous picture boards=group effort.

Worst Part of the Day-
I wish I could do more...

Scarlet Quote:
When arranging a meal to bring over to the fam, Scarlet was uber curious about why I as trying to do this. I explained how we try to comfort grievers with food and make sure the family doesn't have to worry about preparing meals--meals should just show up magically and help their day a tiny bit. Scar did not seemed fine with this and said point blank, "They don't want food, they just want Joey."
Amen.

Friday September 3, 2010

Best Part of the Day-
Just getting through the day. Man, Scarlet is lovin skool.

Worst Part of the Day-
Cannot get over the shock and acute pain of sweet cousin, J.

Please read perfect, beautiful and succinct message from Joey's mom. What a strong woman!:

We ask you to remember our sweet Joey today. He was this happy, full-of-life guy. As you all know by now our wonderful and kind Joey did not make it. The transplant presented just too many horrible obstacles to overcome. He fought like a valiant warrior but he suffered too long. His passing brings us overwhelming grief but a comfort in knowing that he will never hurt again. What he endured was beyond anything most people could ever take and he did it with grace. Never one to complain or give up, he fought like a soldier all alone on the battlefield. He inspired us all and has truly touched many.
His dream to become a middle school math teacher fell short by a semester as he gave up this last spring semester to undergo this operation. He brought his wit and humor to the most difficult challenges he faced in life. Those of us who loved him want him to be remembered this way. Our son, brother, fiance, cousin, friend to so many......fun and funny, tender and thoughtful, always eager to make you feel better with a laugh.......our beloved Joey. Always remember him this way. He taught us in a way that he never could have imagined. He showed us what it takes to have real courage in life. We love you Joey and miss your sweet smiling face.

Monday September 6, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Spent all day on Chris and Ann's boat. It was a GORGEOUS day. The kiddos tubed and then tried water skiing (got Wes up for 30 seconds! So great as he was really scared and I watched that 3 1/2 year old go for it and conquer his fear! Really cool to watch.) Then there was some wake surfing on another dude's boat that was so cool. Good, fun, long day on the water.

Worst Part of the Day - So beat upon getting off the boat! And then Erik had to drive to F-Ville. Booooo. Feel beat up from the weekend - but it sure was fun.

Sunday September 5, 2010

Worst Part of the Day - Mildly hungover. Kept kiddos out too late (again).

Best Part of the Day - Hanging at Chris and Ann's for a Labor Day party. Gorgeous day, boating, eating and hanging out. Kiddos swimming and tubing and generally having healthy outdoor fun. Then a quick four minute drive home. Love it.

Saturday September 4, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Had a little cookout and margarita party for some pals. It was some fun - cool husbands and cool chicks and cool kids. SPECIAL NOTE - if going to serve people roughly nine margaritas before dinner, might want to have heavier appetizers. Did make the party pretty rockin' though :)

Worst Part of the Day - Whoa - getting ready for party. Putting together the grill, sweeping the porches, cleaning out the garage, cleaning the house ... the pre party shower felt amazing.

Friday September 3, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Got two returns done that have been sitting in my car for weeks. Then met Erik and the boyz for lunch. Dropped off Erik's car at the shop and then bought a new grill for our little cook out tomorrow. Got some Dexter watched - will now be very uncomfortable watching John Lithgow in anything. Can really respect his performance, but way freaky deaky.

Worst Part of the Day - My period has hit me like a ton of bricks. Feel just terrible. Brutal.

Best Part of the Day - Erik home as he does not have to work on Friday!!

Worst Part of the Day - I'm not going to finish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo before it's due back at the library. What is WRONG with me? The old gal Mol would have had it finished and returned one week ago. Boooo.

Best Part of the Day - Laying in bed with Wes this morning. He sighed, stretched his arms over his head and said "This is the life." I think I laughed for ten minutes.
Later in the day I asked him if he was an adrenaline junkie and he did not pause before answering yes.

Worst Part of the Day - It's still really hot here. Hoping that Hurricane Earl is going to bring us a cold front (and not mess up the East Coast too much).

Best Part of the Day - Had my friend M's kiddo over while she got her hair did. Wes and Connor played so nicely together the entire time. Lot's of pretending and talking over each other followed by making cars rev.

Worst Part of the Day - Keep remembering things I forgot to get while closing Super Target last night. So annoying.

Monday August 30, 2010

Best Part of the Day - The OTHER Reitters left us their boat so we took Quinn, Wes and Carson (who was spending the day with us) out for some tubing, swimming fun. A very warm day that was best spent treading water. Awesome.
Then I closed out the Super Target with my grocery shopping. Yup - used to close down the bars, now I'm closing down Super Targets. Should have at least gotten a sugar rush on Icees - but I'm too mature for that sh*t.

Worst Part of the Day - Quinn and Wes seem to be escalating their fisticuffs. Well actually (oddly) only Quinn is escalating. Wes is crying and then saying how bad of a boy Quinn is. Familiarity is breeding some major contempt. Let's get some schoolin' started (yes, I might just mention this until it actually begins).

Sunday August 29, 2010

Best Part of the Day - Erik's parents in town for a mere number of minutes prior to their flight to Europe, but we managed to fit in lunch, b-day cake and chit chatting. Odd that they wouldn't come in for the weekend .... too bad, I think. OH and Erik might have found us a boat. Special thanks to the OTHER Reitters for helping us out on this.

Worst Part of the Day - Why o why is there one more week until the schooling starts? Double sigh. We're all super duper ready.

Worst Part of the Day-
I am in slight shock as I type that our sweet Joey (a mere 6 months older than me) passed away surrounded by his immediate family early this morning. I cannot fathom the heartache and pain and agony his parents and siblings and fiance are feeling at this time. Peace to Joey...what a tragic end to his long battle...shock...
Nooooo.

Best Part of the Day-
I had arranged my (nuts) work schedule so I could collect Scarlet from school today. I met her teacher (who seems AMAZING and already totally into understanding my complex girl!), saw the fun classroom and Scarlet remains super jacked up for school, in general. Yes.

Best Part of the Day-
Scarlet started 1st Grade today!! Hell-o, my biggie biggun. She was all set in a new back-to-school dress and even instructed Will-O to wear a suit and tie as he was able to bring her and meet the teacher, etc. Super adorable and she is pumped.

Worst Part of the Day-
I heard very late day that my sweet, trooper of a cousin, Joey, who has been in critical condition of the last 5 months is simply not doing well--at all this night! This brave man has cheated death umpteen times, so I am hoping and praying for his strength...

Best Part of the Day-
Saturday night, good pal, L. had her purse stolen from the bar where we were all--1 inch away from 10 people. Total bummer with not only purse and typical credit card/wallet contents, but also car keys, house keys, phone=boo. This afternoon I received a call (as I was the last one to call her phone...) stating the purse had magically been found. I messaged L. to update her to get on down to the watering hole to collect belongings ASAP. Everything was returned sans the 1 hundie dollars=whoop!

Worst Part of the Day-
I won't get to go to the 1st day of school tomorrow with Miss S. Oh well, can't swing everything...

Scarlet Quote:
As we were getting set to go to the beach this eve, Scarlet ran into my room as I was getting my bikini on. As I was tucking all necessary items in to the bikini top and tying up the straps she snapped, "Don't let your cups runneth over, Mom." I fell down and laughed for a solid 6 minutes. Who is this child??? And can I possibly have cups runnething over anything??
