My parents took the kids today (after I had my mini internal meltdown and asked my mom for a little respite service...) I had free tickets to a play gallery/childrens' museum that I passed off and she and my dad energetically tended to them much of the day. Whew. I really needed that help. The kiddies came back wiped out after serious play time and even an Easter egg coloring session and I felt better about working my ass off for the 6 hour spell. Love productivity sans kids. Thanks a ton.
Worst Part of the Day-
Packing the kids up in the morn to drive out toward my parent's was nightmarish. Yes, as always, it has got to be my issue, but it is simply non-fun. The minute I leave to pack the car, the kids were fighting or removing clothes or spilling staining liquids or writing on the walls. Come on, dudes. I'm not forcing you into the car to go to a child labor camp (though I should), you're going to a play gallery, children's museum and then to the party fun zone that is the grandparental's home! All kid-centric, all the time. Perhaps that is the problem. I recall as a kid going to my dad's all day tennis tournaments for our fun zone. We were supposed to just walk around and play with each other for the 8-10 hour time. No money for vending, no cute juice boxes and finger food, no portable DVD players. Definitely not a children's play gallery designed with little peeps in mind. No ma'am. (My grouchy old man persona is comin out.)
