Worst Part of the Day - Let Wes and Quinn watch tv before bed (for the first time in over a month). It was then soooo annoying to get them up and to bed. But it was rather relaxing while they were watching tv. Still overall just not worth it.

Monday March 29, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Took boyz on a bike ride today while Erik and I walked, which was rather annoying (they are scared to go downhill and can't pedal up hills and Clarence gets caught up in the bikes ....) But Erik was laughing throughout the annoying parts (because you have to laugh or scream) and so it made me perk up. I was muttering under my breath though - it's hard to hold a dog leash and bend over and push a kid up a hill. I'd rather supervise children from a lawn chair.
Sunday March 28, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Erik took Wes to go look at a boat with Chris and his kiddos. Quinn and I chilled out at home for several hours. Soooo relaxing.
Worst Part of the Day - Peeing your pants on purpose because you are either mad at your parents or want some attention is really annoying. Wes - this means YOU.
Saturday March 27, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Erik took the boyz to Panera while I slept in. Then I took boyz to the gym. Then we all went to Chris and Ann's for some March Madness where much of the kiddo time was spent outdoors. Love it.
Worst Part of the Day - Too many appetizers. Blah. Also we got home at 10:30 p.m. which is rather late for the sweet petites. Will pay for it tomorrow.
Friday March 26, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Successful trip to Discovery Place and then Target with the babes.
Worst Part of the Day - Parent's Night Out cancelled due to a caregiver getting sick. (This is put on my local parents - $25 for two kiddos for four hours o' care. Playground, movies, dinner ... such a deal and the kiddos love it.) Oh well - instead I got to figure out WHY OH WHY the volume was not working on our tv but was working with DVD player. Gold Star goes to brother Joe who said "reboot the cable box." Now why didn't I think of that THREE days ago??

Best Part of the Day-
The idea of taking the kiddies, Will-O and his mom out for a family fun dinner this early eve.
Worst Part of the Day-
The reality of taking the kiddies, Will-O and his mom out for a family fun dinner this early eve. Deep exhale. (The kiddies were perfect and the food was tasty.)

Best Part of the Day-
Scarlet went again to her buddy's Bible/Open Gym thingy this eve as she does not have school tomorrow. (Will-O gave me an irritated smirk about her going to this for he third time and I relayed the story of my mom sending myself and 2 brothers to Vacation Bible School with a neighbor. Within 2 minutes of me being there I knew I was different than the kids flipping through bibles to read Matthew 2:16...but it was fun to do the crafts and play on the playground.)
Bottom line: Scarlet enjoys it and it is easier to get Liam ready for bed while she is on the outs.
Worst Part of the Day-
Learning the office portion of the IR practice is sedentary, to say the least. I believe I sat for the whole of my 9-hour work day and acquired osteoarthritis of the bilateral knees and expended 1 calorie.

Best Part of the Day-
Received Mad Men (season 3) in the mail via Netflixies. A small, neat present por moi.
Worst Part of the Day-
Just found out that a b-day gift I had arranged (wine of the month!) was never activated/sent/initiated...though I was charged. Dude, dude, dude.

Best Part of the Day-
Always pleasant on a non-hospital work day...the morning pace is much more languid (and up my alley.)
Worst Part of the Day-
Had to bail on a friend's I won 20 tickets to a comedy show thing. I just could not swing it tonight.
Liam Quote:
Liam asked me out of the blue, "What is your last name again, Mom? I can't remember."
We're so close, yet so far, apparently.

Thursday March 25, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Ran errands in a perfect progressive path. This was on accident, but still it was SO nice to not backtrack (for once). And J has the cheapest, best tailor.
Worst Part of the Day - My class ran late this evening (due to the class before me running late) and my kiddos were sitting out at a table in the smoothie bar area. Surprised they didn't just order up. Then the manager said to me "why does YOUR class always run so late??" Hmmm.
** Wes got in trouble in school today. He didn't obey Miss Sherry when she told him to stop running his truck on the dividers. She said "I asked him four times. And he almost got put in time out again when he wouldn't tell me WHAT he got put into time out for!" When I asked him about it he said "oh yeah. Miss Sherry ask me five times to stop. I got put in time out. I like Miss Karen. (the other teacher who's super nice). I made a chicken in an egg!! Bock Bock." Clearly he's REALLY bent out of shape over his time out. Quinn then gets in the car with his 85th Treasure Box of the school year (meaning he was good as gold for the week).
Wednesday March 24, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Began (again) my eating healthy kick ... but this time I think it's gonna stick. Feel sooo much better.
Worst Part of the Day - Gym schedule sounds like it's going to be achangin' ..... what will get taken away? And why is Wes such a bugger? Those dern Gast buggin' genes!! I wish I could sic him on my mom and brother for a bit - as they are who he gets it from (and maybe a little from me :) Poor Quinn will sometimes go up to his room and lock the door to get away from him.
** Another glowing report at school for Mr. Wes.
Tuesday March 23, 2010
Best Part of the Day - A little retail therapy with my pal J. She had to put her beloved pug Woody to sleep on Friday :( So we did a little mall walking and dog story sharing.
Worst Part of the Day - Slightly bloated from my gastro-therapy with J at Mexican restaurant. Blah.
** Gold Stars for Wes at school today. Even the tough Miss Sherry gave him a glowing report.

Best Part of the Day-
Doc I work with at job #1 cancelled due to the fact that he is out of town, so doc rounds off the docket. (Did he just discover he was out of town for our standard Monday meeting??)
Worst Part of the Day-
Zero headway on creative side project.

Best Part of the Day-
Had all carpets and mattresses steam cleaned in the name of spring, had homemade/organic lunch and din prepared by 11:30am in the name of mom.
Worst Part of the Day-
Working on secret screenplay in my spare time. Question: Why the hell and how the hell do I come up with this craziness??? I am up all night as if this is a college assignment. Dude.

Best Part of the Day-
Will-O took Kiddies to the gym this morn and I lounged and snoozed and leisurely cooked and it rawked!!
Had a picnic outside for din. Sa nice.
Worst Part of the Day-
Still had to pop in to job #1. Finished by 6pm and then it seemed like the day was done.

Best Part of the Day-
Just chillin with a cold Miller product.
Worst Part of the Day-
Walked in the door at 6pm with the organic makings of my yummy potato/leek soup for Book Club. By 6:30, I was still chopping and the kids were whining, "You're not going out again are you?? You just got home!" I abandoned Book Club right then and there (I swear I miss every other month...)

Best Part of the Day-
Went to work out post-workday and then to Gill's March Madness Open House. Fun to swill and shove chips in my mouth in a group setting.
Worst Part of the Day-
Marquette. Also, missed being able to enter my work's March Madness pool by 1 minute. Stauch co-worker running the pool claimed the first game of the day had started. I swear my fax time was only 10:59 am.
Doh. I will care a lot less about these games now that I don't have $20 bucks riding on it.
Emphatic Scarlet Quote:
"Mom you look like a 9 year-old! Your face really looks like a 9 year-old girl on my bus..." (pause, pause and I am starting to feel exceptionally youthful) "...except that your butt is SOOO big. Your butt is way to big to be a 9 year-old, actually!"
Um. Wow. I guess I'm glad.

Monday March 22, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Kiddos slept in again (!) I'm starting to feel rested. Erik is getting boat lift quotes - I LOVE it!! Wes insisted on staying with Erik until he got up - so I only had Quinn downstairs and it was peaceful and lovely and low maintenance (isn't it always that way when you just have one?)
Worst Part of the Day - Wes had some lovely, high decibel trantrums this afternoon. It was exhausting and annoying. Then he turns right around and charms you when some hilarious observation (froggie doesn't have legs, only corners. It's a blanket type frog so he's technically correct.) Then he gives you a full body hug and you wonder if there are manic depressive meds for three year olds.
Sunday March 21, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Kiddos actually slept in. I went to teach Centergy with no guilt (kiddos home with Erik). Chris and Ann and the kiddos came over later. Chris help Erik fix our washer (hooray! It's been broken since last Monday.) Then he assembled our new fire pit - it looks so cool. Can't wait to try it out.
Worst Part of the Day - After yesterday's beauty, today was a rainy mess. Boys DYING to get outside, but it was raining for most of the day.
Saturday March 20, 2010
Best Part of the Day - SEVENTY EIGHT DEGREES. Ahhhhhhhhh. Took only Q to the gym. Wes insisted on staying with Erik. Then we all just went outside and basked in the glow of Indian Spring.
Worst Part of the Day - Hard to stay outdoors with the two unsweets - I am ready for some more autonomy on their parts .... I can never figure out if I'm playing defense or offense. Or even what the score is. Hell - half the time I don't even know the game. (Sweet March Madness reference in terms of my kiddos, no? Probably about as funny as my brackets. Or really Erik's brackets :)
Friday March 19, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Best, best, best weather. Kiddos and I outside for the entire afternoon (which is a feat with these two). We rode bikes and chalked and picked flowers and studied bugs.
Worst Part of the Day - A slight ado with one of our insurance companies. A radiology pal of ours always said this about insurance agencies "they are like bookies who never pay up." I find this to be true over and over and over. And we are not even asking for a pay out - we are just checking benefits and they are giving us the run around. Does not bode well .....
Thursday March 18, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Got some numbers inputted back into my cell phone. Felt like a huge accomplishment.
Worst Part of the Day - Wes fell fast asleep at 6:30 p.m. We had to leave for the gym at 7:15 p.m. and (as you might have gathered) he's not the best waker upper in town (or even the tri state area). So he was MISERABLE. And compounding my guilt is my brother's voice in my head saying "why don't you just leave them with a babysitter?" Hmmm - why DON'T I?
1. Too cheap - there is free childcare at the gym
2. Too disorganized - I'd have the clean the house
3. Too lazy - I'd have to FIND a babysitter
4. Too hardcore - it's only ONE night a week and they don't even have school the next day
5. Too selfish - if I'm going to get a babysitter it should be when I can be going to a movie or dinner
Sounds like bad, bad mothering to me.
Also ... Marquette. REALLY???? My brackets (which are under Erik's name - he's sooo embarrassed) are a disaster. Who knew G-Town would go out in the first round? Clearly, not me.

Wednesday March 17, 2010
Happy 90th Birthday to my 100% Irish G-Ma. Here's to you, Swinging Mary!!
Best Part of the Day - Oh how I do enjoy dressing the boys in the green for the holiday. They looked totally adorable and lived for their shamrock and Irish t's. Preschool was full of Leprachaun hunts and magic - so delightful.
Worst Part of the Day - Wes decided to celebrate the day by getting his Irish Up and having his brother join in. (Maybe they really should be labeled 'hyper'.) Both lost desserts ... too bad they both received cupcakes and cookies at school. D'oh. Foiled again.
Tuesday March 16, 2010
Worst Part of the Day - Getting brutal to get Wes out of the house in the morning. He's like one of those superstitious bingo ladies who has to have her two troll dolls, one teacup and five bingo cards. He keeps filling bags with toys and other odds and ends around the house. It is baglady-esque. And he needs all these odd things before we can get into the car. Here's hoping this be a short lived phase.

Best Part of the Day-
Delightfully easy breezy day with work and kiddies. Still feeling Lifetime-ish...feeling lucky and very blessed. Thank you, Life!
Worst Part of the Day-
Cuz K. is illin!! She was going to host a kiddo/mom party this eve for the usual suspects to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in style, but now is fighting a fever, ear pain and other yickiness. Get well so we can drink wine soon!!
Happy Birthday to Sweet G-ma Gast!!! Long live the Irish!! Happy St. Pat's.

Best Part of the Day-
Beautiful sunny day and kids a'playin in the yard so wonderfully this late afternoon. Are we seriously going to have a spring in our 3 season state??!
Worst Part of the Day-
Splitting headache that feels like it may be related to caffeine, yet I have ingested my standard 1 cup. Spa-litting.
Liam Quote:
In the pre-bedtime wind down, Liam was playing with stuffed animals in his bed and I could hear his cute little voice (with a Bronx accent) say, "I love Mom, I love Dad. I love Sister and I love Ganga Barb...I love you and you love me." My luva boy. Nuggersons.

Best Part of the Day-
Is anyone ready for my Lifetime Channel for Women comment???
Worked 13 hours between the two jobs and came home to lovely and loving and affectionate kiddies all ready for beddie. I have NEVER felt a peace and calm and overall satisfaction with life and work and and home and kids as I have today and tonite. (Is this called, acceptance?) Am I growing up or preparing for my death or losing my mind. Either way, I am liking it. Feeling calm and content (yet energized) on all fronts.
Worst Part of the Day-
I keep having an odd recurring dream and it is perplexing...

Best Parts of the Day-
MamaDay:
Slept in (sans kiddies at home) and receiveded massage and pedicure. Met parents and Brother T. and Nephew W. for din and then (can it get any better?!) headed to fun friends' St. Pat's (with much malarkey!) party. Soo fun to see K. (three kiddies and still hotsie tots!) and drink green beer and hang with some peeps.
(Can I get a whoop, whoop?)
Worst Parts of the Day-
Downright chilly and blustery outside.
Almost late for my relaxing spa treatments!!

Monday March 15, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Successful insurance type meeting with Erik and a professional. Isn't it a good feeling when you know WHAT you are paying into? Yes it tis.
Also Wes got good marks today in preschool - we'll see about the rest of the week ....
Erik took the boyz outside and I made some of those peanut butter banana muffins (the ones with carrot puree - well carrot baby food if you are me and don't really puree). Nerdily, it felt good to accomplish a task from beginning to end as I still have not read the Sunday paper. Also successfully bullied our cable company into giving me back my promotion. They upped my bill $25 and I cried "HELL NO." All you have to say is "Satellite" to them and they cave.
Worst Part of the Day - The movie Nine Dead was okay - but the ending was really, really confusing. And Melissa Joan Hart? I think you are best in Hallmark Hall of Fame type movies.
Sunday March 14, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Nice and sunny day - but still on the chilly side. Went over to Chris and Ann's for some family fun. The boys played really, really nicely together.
Worst Part of the Day - It really bugs me when I can't get the Sunday paper read - I mean it's really not that big and I can feel majorly accomplished.
Therapy Speak - We were feeding all four kids dinner at Chris and Ann's and I'm talking to Wes saying how great it is he's sitting in his seat and eating with his fork and both Jack and Carson turn and look at me like "Lady - that is not that great of an accomplishment." It was kind of funny - but really, peeps, I can already see a change in my strong willed second born.
Saturday March 13, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Went to perfect b-day party - pizza, cake, bouncy house, Backyardigans. Loved it.
Worst Part of the Day - I'm so tired. I really can't seem to get rested up - I need one full nights sleep with no interruptions.
Therapy Speak - Also much calmer on the Wes front as I am using 'expert' advice (from a book my dad sent me). It is working. Seems the only time the kiddo was receiving lots of attention was when he was misbehaving. So now I'm commenting on EVERYTHING good or just everyday behavior things he does ... and by jove, it's working. Here is how I sound "WOW look at WES sitting on his BUM at the dinner table. WHOA - that is AWESOME." "WOW look at WES getting right in his CAR SEAT. SO GREAT!!!" Also supposed to give him 20 extra 'touches' a day - because when a kiddo is naughty we automatically tend to not kiss or hug them as much. It seems very odd to me - but I have to admit it is working. Too bad I sound like a freakin' lunatic who thinks their child is the best thing EVA.
Friday March 12, 2010
Worst Part of the Day - I found out today that if you get a refund from the government they count it as income for the following year (i.e. if you got $3000 back in 2008 it gets added to your 2009 total earnings). Then ... they tax you on it. Really?? How can that be? Must change withholdings stat as that is too annoying.
Best Part of the Day - Watching Survivor with Erik and getting all feisty about it - the Heroes trib is a bunch of dumbarses and now I hope a Villain wins. Although, I don't need to hope, it will be a MIRACLE if a 'hero' wins it. (Sorry for the insider Survivor speak - but the show is SO great.)

Best Part of the Day-
Will-O home from Peru vaca. He picked up kiddies from childcare and all at once I was not rushing around like a freakshow. I met the fam for din and it was all quite pleasant. Will-O brought Peruvian gifts for us all and the kidlets were beaming with delight.
Worst Part of the Day-
I wanted to sneak away to the mall during my unexpected free time, but alas, one more day without the latest MBT shoes must do.
Thursday March 11, 2010
Best Part of the Day-
My mom met Scarls at the bus and the two made din for us so there was yummy food waiting for my dining pleasure after the workday.
Worst Part of the Day-
A bit hectic getting Liam going this morn. I was dressing him while he slept and gave him a baggie full of dry cereal en route to the sitter's for breakfast.
Conversation of the Day-
Scarlet does not have school tomorrow due to conferences so when a school chap called to ask if she wanted to attend a "church open gym" from 6p-8p, I was all for it. Scarlet was psyched and it was nice having a lil evening time solely with L. When Scarlet came home she was winded and happy told me all about the church fun. Apparently there was gym time, craft time and Bible time. She showed me a bracelet she made where each color bead stood for something: "The red one is for sen", she started, "the yellow one for hope..." Wait, I asked, "The red one is for what?" "Sen, you know sen, when you do something wrong, when you SEN." (She has never heard the word sin before clearly...) "Honey, the word is sin." She then regurgitated her new found info in somewhat of a southern accent: "Jesus died for our sens--his death will give us eternal life and SALVATION!" She went on to describe the rest of the significance of the colored beads. "The blue one", she stated plainly, "is to remind me to spread the word."
Don't be a senner.
Hallelujia.

Thursday March 11, 2010
Worst Part of the Day - I'd been letting Quinn use my phone as there is one (lame) game on it that he loves. Today I was heading to do some errands after dropping the kiddos off and thought "I'll make some phone calls." So I notice that all my prior calls have been erased. Hmm. Then I notice that my appointments for that day have been erased. Uh oh. Then I notice that my ENTIRE contact list has been erased. Yup - he erased my entire phone. Every phone number, appointment, birthday .... bumER.
Picked Wes up and it sounded like he was still being naughty. But this time the teachers were on him like white on rice and just stopped that bad behavior before it could escalate. "I have a hyper grandson" said Miss Sherry. Ummm - could we find a different word perhaps?
HATE bringing kiddos to the 7:30 p.m. class - it's really, really an energy sapper for me (and for them).
Best Part of the Day - Had lunch with seven other ladies today - very fun and hilarious and lovely to be two minutes away from preschool pick up.
Wednesday March 10, 2010
Worst Part of the Day - I'm dragging. Wes had me up several times (again) during the night. I did make it to the gym and then went home to practice more Centergy for my class ... when I received a phone call from Wes' teacher. Seems the boy (was it just yesterday I was saying he never gets in trouble in school?) threw a major fit today. He blew raspberries at the teachers (I've never seen him do this), spit, threw toys, would not listen ... then when he was sent to the office (!) he proceeded to take off his shoes, throw his shoes at the wall and then start banging his head against the wall. Then I was told that his behavior had been getting progressively worse over the past three weeks. Also heard the word 'hyper' about seven times as in "he's always been hyper, but now he can't seem to reign it in." Hmmmm. Is there anything different at home? Nah - only his father being gone for four days each week, a weekly gym excursion when he should be in bed, nightly wakings an average of twice a night, hasn't napped in two weeks, no more television before he goes to bed. That's it.
Best Part of the Day - I made Wes nap today and did seem a minor improvement in his 'hyperness' at the end of the day.

Best Part of the Day-
Went to Scarlet's Winter Open House. They had a fundraiser spaghetti din from Maggiano's (delish) and then Scarlet's parent-teacher conference. She is a top-notch kiddo in the classroom and I enjoy her teachers immensely. Great to hear the positive comments.
Worst Part of the Day-
So this is Evening #2 of my kids being out "late" as Scarlet's conference was set for 6:45pm. At the end, Liam melted down, Scarlet wasn't being an excellent listener (she was being average, in her defense) and I had 3 boxes of take-out food, large scale art pieces, backpacks, a purse and a sobbing 3 year-old in my arms as I exited the school. My lord.
(Note: I am infinitely pleased that Liam is my second child, because truly I am unphased by his antics. They evoke no anger, confusion, dismay or embarassment like they may have with Scarlet--it is just that I do not have enough hands or time to effectively handle him in his terrible 3's state. Oh yes, that is why it is ideal to have another grown-up with ya...)

Best Part of the Day-
Drinking purified water and breathing.
Worst Part of the Day-
Had to, just had to take the kiddies with me to job #1 after my full day of hospital mayhem. Though there is a toy room and a playroom for them at this job, I still felt the guilt about having my 7pm bedtime kiddles up with me til 8-ish. By the time we got home they were both hot messes. Arrrgggghhh.

Best Part of the Day-
Cousin Sarah babysat while I ran to do doc rounds this eve. Very, very helpful. Scarlet was sooo thrilled to see her and show off her pierced ears to Cool Cousin S.
Worst Part of the Day-
Holy f*%ck I rushed around. The hospital was nuts packed today with case after case. I literally sprinted to my car so I wouldn't be late to get Liam at 5. Then I sped downtown to retrieve Scarl from her after-school program and we were trapped in traffic until 6pm. Then off to doc rounds starving and bladder a'full. Dude. My facial wrinkles are re-appearing...

Best Part of the Day-
Running and playing:
1. Nice am run
2. My mom met me at a park so I could run to work and pick up a B-day gift for our party later today. Sooooo darn nice to have the kiddies running and playing for the 1.25 hour time.
3. The B-day party (that I thought was at an annoying time slot of 4-5:30p) turned out to be a blast! It was a karate party and both kiddies highly enjoyed. Liam hammed it up ten notches by listening like a big kid. He did all of the "hi-ya!"' and "yes, Sensai!" and all the moves--it was priceless. More running.
Zero t.v. time today. (How many single moms can say that one?)
Worst Part of the Day-
Missing my "me" time.
Scarlet Quote:
Sibling stuff.
Before we got to the park, Scarlet said, "I wish I was four again. I really liked being 4. It was much more relaxing when we didn't have Liam..." When I informed her that Liam was around when she was 4, she simply stated, "He wasn't this annoying then."

Tuesday March 9, 2010
Best Part of the Day - 73 degrees and super, super sunny. Feels so damn good. Met up with a pal from high school who also lives in Charlotte. I had not seen her in months - booo. The lunch was at this delicious place and we had such a fun time catching up. Around 4 p.m. I met up with some fellow mamas at the tennis court parking lots to let the boys (and yes they were all boys between 2 and 4 years of age) ride bikes and big wheels while we sipped some beverages. Ahhh - spring is in the air.
Worst Part of the Day - Last night Quinn got me up once and Wes got me up twice. Then Erik left at 4:30 a.m. .... needless to say it twas not a good nights sleep. I feel almost lightheaded from lack o' sleep. AND I had this coupon for a free McDonald's frappe .... while drinking this dreamy, creamy concoction I wondered "how bad IS this?" So I called sista Sarah who is font of all knowledge (and has daily access to a computer at work) to find out the calorie/fat of the milkshake, I mean coffee drink. Gulp - 450 calories and 20 g o' fat seems a little high for a midmorning snack. Double sigh. I have another coupon for a free one - who wants it?

Monday March 8, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Twofer and then a haircut. Erik dropped off and picked up the boyz, so it was a little freedom (albeit with some major workout pain. But will still take it over separating fighting siblings.)
Worst Part of the Day - Even though I kind of like my haircut, I think I'm going to have to break up with my stylist. First of all she was late - but that's no big deal as I am often late meself. Then she just complained to me about various issues (her job, parking fees). She talked to another person the entire time she was cutting my hair which I just thought was weird. Then I tried to get another appointment at an early time and she clearly lied and said she couldn't do it. Adeiu - we must part ways.
Also did some grocery shopping late in the evening (well late for me - 7:30 p.m.) I HATE grocery shopping at this time because there are always moms with young kids and there is yelling and name calling and just overall angst. Makes me depressed.
Sunday March 7, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Got to sleep in - but not very well as the babes were SOOOO loud.
Worst Part of the Day - It has been like I have a three month old again - I have been woken up two to three times every night for about the past two weeks. It is getting so old and I'm so tired ... I began a new 'no tv at night' program. Just bath and then books. Might have to rethink this to keep them up.
The boyz are fighting and fighting and fighting - and really, it's mostly Wes bugging Quinn. At least once a day - Quinn will just run upstairs to his room and lock Wes out. He's just a bugger and knows how to push your buttons AND how to make the biggest mess.
- also for the first time in years and years I don't care about the Oscars and didn't even watch. Maybe next year I'll be well rested.
Saturday March 6, 2010
Best Part of the Day - My Saturday twofer streak continues (that ones for you, sista Sarah).
Worst Part of the Day - Watching Marquette lose to ND. Such an annoying game. We were at a bar meeting up with Chris, Ann and their kiddos ... somehow it wasn't as relaxing as last Sunday. Lots of whining and complaining and general mischief making.
More Penis Talk - Today Wes says "well Mama you pee out of your giant." That took me a minute to realize what he was talking about. So I say "yes I pee out of my vagina." "Yes," he says giving me a look. "I say that. You pee out of your giant." There is a pause. Then he says "And you sit down on your ... wait, do you have a butt?" Yes, darling, I DO have a butt.
Friday March 5, 2010
Best/Worst Part of the Day - To assuage parental guilt from last night - I took the boyz on an "adventure". We hit Monkey Joe's (bounce place) for three plus hours (!) and then to Ben and Jerry's for ice cream (well, frozen yogurt. Shhh - don't tell Wes.) It was loud as a rock concert at this particular locale - what with the 80's rock songs and air pumping equipment. But here's hoping the little devils are tired out.
Best Part of the Day - Erik arrives home! We snuggle in to watch Survivor. Soooo good.
Thursday March 4, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Dropped babes off at school and then went home to clean out the obnoxious amount of crappy toys in the basement. How many McDonald Happy Meal toys can two boys accumulate? About 3/4 of a Target bag full. They all went to the preschool's treasure box - hopefully none will be coming back. The basement now looks clean and clear and under control. Love it.
Worst Part of the Day - Parental guilt regarding dragging the kiddos to the gym at 7:15 p.m. and not arriving home until after 9 p.m. But teaching Centergy went well.

Saturday March 6, 2010
Best Part of the Day-
Had a friend and her daughter over for a din and playtime session this early eve. It was great to catch up with her over the delectable combo of yummy wine, frozen pizzas and fresh fruit. The kids practiced and then performed a "rock show" for us--complete with costumes, wigs and somewhat original head gear, The Pink Teddy Bears did a 2-song show. Scarlet was lead singer, Morgan on drums and Liam was their appointed roadie and "snack boy". It was pretty priceless.
Note: 4 year-old Morgan is sooooo grown-up now. Wowie.
Worst Part of the Day-
The kiddies were kinda buggin me all day. Liam with mucho whining and Scarlet with, oh I don't know, just her...
On day 9 of this serious single-parenthood stretch, I need a 20 minute to 2-hour break.
Friday March 5, 2010
Best Part of the Day-
Got to leave early from hospital job which allowed me to complete my other job stuff. On the way out of the hospital, the head doc (who most of the staff tip toe around...but I have never been much of a tip toe-er...) called to me and stated in his German accent, "You bring a nice spark to the department. Have a good weekend, Little One." By spark do you mean the drama of almost killing a patient?? Regardless, thank you, Tall Lanky One.
Worst Part of the Day-
Ready for bed right at the 7pm mark. (My lameness...)
Thursday March 4, 2010
Best Part of the Day-
Will-O's mom picked up both kiddies and took them to the Mitchell Park Domes to see a train exhibit. This allowed me to be leisurely (well, not running red lights to pick up kidlets) upon leaving the workforce.
Worst Part of the Day-
Need a bit more time in the day. I am really trying to finish this darn (semi-secret) side project. Arrrggghhh.

Wednesday March 3, 2010
Best Part of the Day-
Will-O's mom picked Scarlet up from the bus and hung with her for a spell. This was a gigantic help!!!
Worst Parts of the Day-
Medical Crap:
1. I almost killed a patient at work. Alright, she was likely over-sedated (BY ME) with the Dr.'s order, or his angioplasty threw a blood clot into her lung--and though the patient was not clearly not breathing and a Code Blue a'startin, the doc still wanting to complete his precious angio.
2. Found out that Sista-to-be, Alli, has to undergo a surgical procedure tomorrow. Always something, my darlin!! Wishing luck, me love.
Tuesday March 2, 2010
Best Part of the Day-
Everyone is on the mend. (Blech.)
Worst Part of the Day-
Feeling woozy and weird for much of the day. Scarl too pale and lethargic to go to school, so both kids to the sitter's while I pretended to feel fine at the hospital.
Monday March 1, 2010
Best Part of the Day-
My mom came to my rescue.
Worst Part of the Day-
Scarlet jolted out of bed at 5am and walked zombie-like into my room and proceeded to vomit all over my stark white (and very thick and large and challenging to wash) comforter. She continued to puke/dry heave every 15 minutes until noon. 4 piles of laundry and 10 hours later, I started the glorious puking. On my way to teach my evening class I pulled over to hurl. During my class I had to excuse myself for uncontrollable bile puking. Yummy, yummy fun. I guess there really is a time to call in sick to work.
Sunday February 28, 2010
Best Part of the Day-
My parentals had the kiddies for a few hours while I jaunted to work and headed to the grocery. Soooo refreshing to see the 4 of them holding hands while walking to the frozen lake and then snowman-building as I pulled out of the driveway. Light years better than plopping the sweets in front of a t.v.
Worst Part of the Day-
Wanting to meet the dearies for some Bloody Mary's and cannot...
Wishing a very Happy Anniversary to Sweet Terinel!!!
Saturday February 27, 2010
Best Part of the Day-
Drinking coffee solo while the kids were in the gym KidCare. Who needs to actually build muscle?
Worst Part of the Day-
Liam was majorly crabby and demanding this afternoon. Today he sobbed and screamed at the top of his lungs when I wouldn't drive him instantly to "Pancake of Pie", which are his invented words for any IHOP, Original House of Pancakes, etc. Not in the cards, ma dear.
Wednesday March 3, 2010
Best Part of the Day - The roads were dry, dry, dry this morning (ever after hours and hours of fat, fluffy snowflakes). School is ON. Love it. Went to fitball at the gym and then off to hang out with Janelle. While playing with Quinn after school I fell dead asleep on the floor. Guess all these wake ups are getting to me. Then boyz did play together downstairs for 30 full minutes. Bliss.
Worst Part of the Day - Wes awoke me at 1:25 a.m. and I had to get him back to sleep in his bed. Then he came in the bed at 4:15 a.m. or some such nonsense and I was too dern tired to protest. Boyz still acting crazy - but seem to be responding well to my new overly calm, menacing demeanor. Still wanting to grind up some Benadryl (ala G-Ma) and put it in their afternoon snack.

Tuesday March 2, 2010
Worst Part of the Day - Wes dumped a half bottle of hair detangler on Quinn's carpet (he's no dummy - he didn't do it on HIS carpet). Lost dessert in his lunch. So annoying to clean up. SNOW (!) started at 11 a.m. and kept going and going and going. I bet there's no school tomorrow. Boooooooo.
AFter dinner the boyz were once again super crazy and were put to bed by 6 p.m. I'm getting woken up at 5 to 5:30 a.m. by Wes, but at night it is worth it!!
Best Part of the Day - Finally got to talk with my cousin/amiga mejor KEG today. Oh man - it's been a long while, but she was most gracious about my lack o' being in touch. She had me in stitches regarding a story about B's ... stitches. Heh heh. Did a quick meet up with Janelle, picked up some kiddo movies for the sure to be snow day tomorrow and got my babes home safe and sound. We snuggled in for the day and watched a little Shrek.
Eye No Have Them - A couple days ago. Wes and I were talking face to face when he said "Mama - you have eyebrows. I no have eyebrows." And I said "of course you have eyebrows. They are right here." "No," he said. "I have none. Let's look in the mirror." So we go to the mirror and it really does look like he has no eyebrows because they are so light. "Yook. Yook. (Look. Look.) I no have eyebrows." I was dying laughing. And now when Erik or I ask him about his eyebrows he just shrugs his shoulders and says "I no have them."
Monday March 1, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Erik brought the babes to school so I was able to do another two-fer at the gym. Whew.
Worst Part of the Day - Erik left for Fayetteville as he has a Monday evening meeting. Boyz crazed. They lost dessert and books and were put to bed at 6 p.m. Actually will be a little punishment for me in the morning ... but for now it's soooo worth it!
Sunday February 28, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Taught Centergy by myself for the first time. It went really, really well and all the nice participants gave me a round of applause afterward. Warm and fuzzy to the nth degree. I ran home, changed and Erik the boyz and I met Chris at a sports bar to watch the MU/Seton Hall game. It was very relaxing and fun (veggie cobb salad?? So good!!) Boys entertained by video games without putting in quarters. Oh my.
Watched Good Hair tonight - thought it was EYE opening! Who knew weaves cost so much? But I thought it could have been a little bit more informative and more pulled together. Still worth a look/see.
Worst Part of the Day - NEED SPRING NOW. Am gong to set up a track in the backyard and make the boyz run it.
Saturday February 27, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Again with the two-fer workout. Feels good when you are done. If I could just take a nap, get a massage and then have someone prepare me a natural, healthful meal. Which is really what Quinn and Wes get ... WITHOUT having to workout for two hours. Chris and Jack came over late in the day (Cason got sick :( Kiddos entertained for hours.
Worst Part of the Day - Lay off the crack pipe babes. Mama can't take much more insaneness.
Friday February 26, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Successful trip with a friend and her two kiddos to Discovery Place. Slight drama when it twas time to leave - but other than that, Quinn and Wes played most excellently and independently with all the fun, new, cool stuff.
Erik home by 5:20 p.m. Hooray.
Worst Part of the Day - The boyz appear to be on crack. They are hyper and not listening and SO SO SO crazed. Wes is on about day three of no desserts (so it can't be sugar ....)
Penis Pride - For a week now Wes has been very concerned with my lack of penis. I almost wish I would have just said "yes, of course I have one" when he asked. Now it's the topic of conversation daily. Here are some quotes:
"You can't go to work mama. You don't have a penis."
"How you pee? How you pee if you have no penis?"
(Patting my hand). "Maybe tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow you get a penis."
Monday, March 1, 2010
Thursday February 25, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Lunch with my pal/sista Ann. Always a treat and we always find out so much information about what is going on with the brothas. Delicious AND enlightening.
Also team taught with Natasha and it went really well. I'm ready for my solo performance on Sunday (maybe.)
Worst Part of the Day - The class I'm going to teach each week is Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Since Erik will still be in Fayetteville, I have to drag the boyz. We didn't get home until 9:00 p.m. when all was said and done ... late, late, late. And then Wes had some trouble settling himself down. This will not make for excellent Thursday nights.
-- now sucked into the Jersey Shore. Instead of the Booker prize book - I'm wallowing in the hair gel, fake tans and bad accents (sorry! Maybe it's just the words they are using in the accent). Nice.
Wednesday February 24, 2010
Best Part of the Day - Headed to NoDa with a bunch o' lasses to hit the French bakery Amelie and then some shopping at the Boulevard at NoDa which is pretty cool - a marketplace of sorts for crafty individuals (http://www.blvdnoda.com/). Very fun, laid back time and the chocolate tartlets I bought for the boyz were a most excellent (eat all your dinner!) bribe.
Also my pal Danille blogged about it too which I thought was so funny.
http://glasspony.blogspot.com/
You can't miss the back of my big ole hair in photo number two.
Worst Part of the Day - Feeling like I should be doing house projects (toys to Goodwill!), but instead jaunting off to bakeries and shopping.
Also trying to finish this book with has captured my interest but is quite annoying to read. I'm 500 pages in, so I can't give up now. Plus the characters and era are so dern interesting, I want to read it. Still the language and sentence structure give me pause. This is one of the many reasons why I will never win a Booker prize.
